Hello Everyone,

If you currently vape openly in a Pub. Please ask your landlord or landlady to register for free membership of CAM-VIP on this site. All they have to do is join and advertise their Pub.

Russell

PostSubject: Flyers   Mon May 17, 2010 11:14 pm

Heyup Russ.
As mentioned before in The Nut House, flyers would be an easy way for us to spread the word.
It could just be handed to a pub landlord or barstaff, and we would be there to answer any questions.
The flyer could include a quick explanation as to how e-cigs work, explaining the benefits to the user as well as the environment. It could contain details of websites they could visit for more information and if anyone's artistic, a recognisable logo would be a good idea.
It should also mention that the pub would get free advertising and promoting.
Any more Ideas??

Chris. study

Hello Chris,

The Flyers suggestion is great and I'm working on them this week - as time allows. Hopefully, they should be ready by the weekend.

Jaded is working on a logo for us,,,,,a big thank you to him too.

Now there's a teaser. Is the glass about to conceal the e-cig or was it just lifted off. Hmm.

Either way Andy, the Pint glass will not snuff the eGo out as it isn't lit , so legal to use in Pubs - unlike real cigarettes that produce smoke and so are banned in Pubs Wink

Well, I shall be spreading the word locally. It'll give me an excuse to go on a few pub crawls. Blimey. Beer's so expensive these days.

Although there is a pub a couple of miles away that's stuck in a time warp. £1.30 a pint. Blimey. Shame they don't do cask ale.

Any excuse for a Pub crawl eh??

The flyer will only have the following stuff on it, unless you can suggest other sections!!

  • Vaping and the Smoking Ban (Law)
What is an e-cig and how does it work?
    Useful Links

I want to distance us from the sellers - BUT they will be able to find out some more stuff via the links. There will be some mention of relative costs between smoking and e-cigs, including start up costs. There will also be a mention of the affiliate schemes that many retailers use - but definitely NO commercial plugging.

Spot on. I couldn't agree more.

Now what do I call you. Rusty? Admin? Or captain.

You know, the question I'm most often asked is: How much does that cost? And they mean precisely what I hold in my hand (my e-cig, of course). This is always tricky to deal with, as it's running costs that matter. So I tell them it's roughly half the cost of smoking packet ciggies as this is really what they want to know. But then they're unhappy because I didn't answer the question. Frustration on both sides.

Call me owt tha wants!!! Very Happy I'm trying to be more Russell with this one, Rusty is the less serious me!!

The start up costs have always been a problem for smokers! It was for me. I was smoking Domingo 40g for £1.80 when I switched - BUT I had been spending ridiculous sums on Nicorette or Nicotinell patches previously.

I did see it as an alternative to those awful things when I started vaping, rather than vaping being a smoking alternative. I'm so glad that I joined all the forums, otherwise I would be back smoking now!

Vaping for me now, is smoking.

There is no point in trying to convert smokers. The point of this exercise is to encourage them to try PVs/e-cigs out whilst out!! They may convert, BUT it is more likely that most may just give vaping a go whilst they are in the Pub.

The more people who Vape in a place - the more likely that the smokers will consider having a try.

Captain Russell it is, then.

Yeah, and it gets worse as the night wears on. Many pubs appear to allow smoking after last orders, which doesn't help. And attempting to talk seriously about life-saving issues is a source of hilarity when everyone's pissed.

One thing I worry about is those landlords we may encounter who are more concerned that vaping looks like smoking. Most of their customers are used to smoke-free pubs now and just might be turned away.

Hey! Someone's making my words into advertisements. Stop that!

If the Pub declares itself as a Vaping Pub,,,,and displays the no smoking/vaping ok sign;

The mistaking Vaping for smoking should not happen,,,,,,you've only got to sniff up!! Shocked

I'll take it to the club, too. It desperately needs members.

The old men could vape e-pipes.

Today i got home early from work, and took some leaflets to a few pubs. Most landlords know about vaping and theres no problem with it !!
A couple of the snooty pubs did not want to know !! I left the literature with the good pubs, and wil return in a few days time to get the feedback.
Will keep you all posted !! Surprised
